I agree wholeheartedly. Despite the fact that I work for the same company that owns the FT, I am disgusted by this reasoning. I definitely won't be subscribing to the pink paper any time soon.

Same here.. I really hope this happens sometime; however, I wish that it had been turned around and the Macworld keynote focused on everything else and the special event was "oh yeah, here's this awesome new phone that this event is dedicated to"

Why not sell daily copies of the FT if they don’t want to sell subscriptions through Apple. Does Apple allow this?
That would make the App the equivalent of the news stand with the additional advantage of immediate availability of to-day’s edition to-day wherever the reader is in the world. The price could be very competitive with a news stand price and the FT would not have any info on this reader in any case.

First off, I'd like to apologize. This is ANOTHER RAM question. the problem is searching for ram+powerbook brings up so many other irrelevant topics.
Anyways, I've been looking at RAM on newegg. As long as it has a lifetime warranty, is there any difference between manufacturers?
also, I know my PB takes 200pin DDR PC2700 ram. is that the only type I can use, or can I use other kinds such as DDR2 (way cheaper)? I attached a system profiler screenshot for kicks.

Well you talk about fairness, I don't think its fair that your studies are funded by the government and mine are not, even though I will be working directly for the government in the very near future. And, its not fair to me that you may very well benefit directly from my work in several ways. For example, say you come to America for a holiday, and you are mugged. It would be my job to help get the guy responsible for your mugging and to be able to put you back to your position before you were mugged, at no cost to you because you are not an American citizen and don't pay taxes. So, I feel toat you owe me money because that would be fair. I know i'm making money as an attorney, but so is Loren on the many, many other projects he has going on for him. Its only fair that we are both compensated justly for everything we do, right? Just like you would want to be compensated by me if I came to your country and needed medical help, it would be nothing out of my pocket, and that doesn't seem fair to you personally doing something without just compensation.
My point is, each of us has our own lives to support, because really when it comes down to it, no one else is giving us a free ride...well except for you and thats not really fair. Well then to educate you, in America, no one gets a free ride. We're all for ourselves here, and then we have to pay taxes up the ass for the people on welfare who mooch off of the welfare system without really doing anything. No ones gonna help me with my law school loans even though the work I am doing will benefit many, many people. I will get a small government salary (criminal prosecutors do not make a lot of money at all, thats why so many attorneys try to go to private practices and big law firms, to make that 6 or 7 figure income). The guys who created youtube didn't charge people to access the videos hosted on their site for free, or charge people each time they updated their servers and software, yet they are rolling in the dough. In America, we thrive on customer satisfaction. I personally do not feel Loren did enough with Tweetie 1 in satisfying his customers before going ahead and charging full price for an "update." And his excuse that Apple didn't provide an upgrade path is a cop out. I read his tweet on the decision; he did it because he "had the balls to do it." He should at least go back to Tweetie 1 and upgrade that as much as possible until he can't anymore. i agree with many of the sentiments here, and this is why i think its wrong to assume that the white iphone 4 needs "breathing room" before the next generation (which by all accounts isn't going to be an aesthetic change anyway, just a processor bump).
its partly apple's own fault for having created almost a "tradition" of summer iphone releases, that are so heavy promoted in the media that everyone starts expecting them, even those who don't read these sites or know what a wwdc even is.
i'm not saying that it won't in fact be a fall release, and apple probably was hoping these interim releases would energize sales in the meantime. if anything though, they're just mitigating an already trickling demand.
now for my personal rant: i was foolish and bought a iphone 3g 2 months before the iphone 3gs was announced. add to that the fact that all the carriers in canada lock you into outrageous 3 year contracts, and i'm left with hardware that struggles with/can't run the current OS and is going to feel even more comparatively crippled as ios5 and other smartphone os's evolve. (feature lust aside, the basic functions of the phone become tortoise slow with the newer os's, and carriers require you to upgrade to the newest software available for your phone if you want any support from them) and there's nothing i can do about all that. canada may be a uniquely ****** market with these ultra-long contracts, but you can sure as ***** bet i'm never again going to buy the year old tech. it may seem "good enough" at the time, but you have to think ahead to how they'll bog down the OS over the next 3 years.

Heck I have said some crap to good friends of mine on the ice and they have said some crap to me. Even at my level of play there's emotion that sometimes gets the better of us.
That's funny, because the ice team I started playing with (all straight guys except for me) recently kicked a guy off the team for using the F word repeatedly, and that was before I joined. I don't feel the need to use slurs when I play, and neither do they. They think it's cheap, immature and they won't tolerate it.
